Install Guide — MultiCharts / NinjaTrader / MT4 Indicators

Bought an indicator but not sure how to install it? This guide covers the import process for the three major platforms—MultiCharts (.pla), NinjaTrader 8 (.nt8), and MetaTrader 4 (.ex4/.mq4)—plus common troubleshooting tips. You’ll have it installed in 30 seconds and running a backtest in 5 minutes.

Quick Install (For Experienced Users)

  1. Go to “My Account → Downloads” to get your .pla / .nt8 / .ex4 file
  2. Use the Import function in your trading software to load it
  3. Find the imported indicator in the Indicators / Studies list → drag it onto your chart

MultiCharts Indicator Installation (.pla File)

Step 1 · Download the .pla File

After checkout, you’ll receive two download access points:

  • Order Confirmation Email: Each product has its own download link—just click to download
  • My Account → Downloads: Log in to see all available files and re-download them unlimited times

Downloaded files will be named something like MP1.pla, MP6.pla (MP followed by the product number). Save them somewhere easy to find.

Step 2 · Import into MultiCharts

Open MultiCharts PowerLanguage Editor, then from the top menu:

  • File → Import...
  • Select the .pla file you just downloaded
  • A dialog box will list all studies/indicators/strategies in the package—check all of them → OK
  • Wait for the import to finish (usually within 10 seconds)

Step 3 · Apply to a Chart

In the MultiCharts main window:

  • Open any chart
  • Right-click → Insert Study
  • Search for the imported indicator name in the list (e.g., MP06_MrLTrend) → apply it
  • Adjust input parameters as needed in the settings window

NinjaTrader 8 Indicator Installation (.nt8 File)

  1. Download the .nt8 file we provide (NinjaScript Add-On format)
  2. Open NinjaTrader 8 → go to Control Center → Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On...
  3. Select the .nt8 file → confirm
  4. NinjaTrader will automatically recompile (you’ll see progress in the bottom-right corner, about 30 seconds)
  5. Once compiled, go to Indicators... on a chart → find the imported indicator → apply it

MetaTrader 4 Indicator/EA Installation (.ex4 / .mq4)

  1. Download the .ex4 (compiled) or .mq4 (source code) file
  2. In MT4: File → Open Data Folder
  3. Copy the indicator file to MQL4/Indicators/; copy the EA file to MQL4/Experts/
  4. Back in MT4 → right-click the Navigator window → Refresh
  5. Find it under Navigator → Custom Indicators or Expert Advisors → double-click to apply

Common Troubleshooting

Download Link Not Working / Invalid Link

  • Check if your browser is blocking the download (look at the download icon in the top-right corner)
  • Clear your browser cache (press Ctrl + Shift + R to force refresh)
  • Try another browser (Chrome / Edge / Firefox all work)
  • Log in to My Account → Downloads to get the link again
  • Still having issues? Email us: [email protected]

Can’t Find the Indicator After Import

  • MultiCharts: Refresh the PowerLanguage Editor window (View → Refresh)
  • NinjaTrader 8: Wait for compilation to finish (the status bar at the bottom-right will show Compiling... → Ready)
  • MT4: Right-click the Navigator window → Refresh, or simply restart MT4

Import Error / Compilation Error

  • MultiCharts: Make sure your MultiCharts version is ≥ 14.0. Older versions may not support some PowerLanguage syntax
  • NinjaTrader 8: NT8 cannot import NT7 files. Confirm you downloaded a .nt8 file, not a .zip
  • MT4: If the .mq4 source code fails to compile, it might be due to MT4 build version differences. Just use the .ex4 file we provided

License Activation

All indicators and systems on this site are ready to use after download—no additional license key required. If you see any window asking for an activation code, please take a screenshot and send it to us. It’s most likely a mix-up with another third-party indicator.
